ENTR'ACTE (2012)
site specific sound installation No.107 |
Situated in the basement of Leicester’s Abbey Pumping Station, Entr’acte seeks to be as ignorable as it is interesting by operating as an intermission revealed between other installations. The installed sounds are played via hidden speakers and are not primary to the space but rather act as a support by augmenting the environment’s naturally occurring sounds and contrasting them with activity less native to the location. Those who discover the treatment are rewarded with an appreciation of the relationship between the location’s natural and augmented atmosphere and acoustics. Those not conscious of any change will ultimately still have their perceptions of the space altered even if they are not necessarily aware of it.
